12:55pm on a sunny Monday afternoon...
ttocsland
Where have you been, scotty-boy, where have you been?
I've been here, there and everywhere. I've been around the world and lost in time. I've been hoping and wishing and dreaming and thinking...

I think I'll take a slice of my brain-activity and share with you the things I think of, the things I hope for, the things I need to share.

like this - I'm glad you are my friend. I'm lucky to have people like you in my life. I'm hopeful we'll have more time to sit and share and be happy and smile and laugh around a roaring fire pit, cool drinks in our hands as we recollect the cool things that have happened in our lives. But if that doesn't happen anytime soon, I just want you to know. Know that in the happy moments I'm really glad to be able to count on you, and in the sad moments I'm almost always amazed at how much you help me out. Just wanted to say that.

we've been having wintery weather lately, and I have to say I'm both for and against it. Love what it makes things look like, sadly feeling cold fingers as I've lost the ability to heat my extremeties...

My memory shouldn't be as bad as it is, but I do have a few images stored away - the pine forests of Germany with the dark un-snowed ground in the midst, the heavily weighted branches a bright white on the outside and above. the crisp dark morning of my start of paperboy-hood, where I crunched thru an inch of ice on top of snow banks as i did my rounds in yorkville. the sunny coldness of a run about clinton on my Seca 550, dry road, cold air, and white white snow under the slanted winter sun.

unlike the fun and companionship of a friendly gathering to celebrate Christopher's birthday, kitty cat here is just not having the same amount of fun. Odd.

I think one of the coolest things I've experienced since moving to durham is this winter holiday luminaries set up in Northgate park. I'm very fond of lights in the darkness of the wintery months; take 18 years in Upstate and you'll understand. Twinkly lights, flickering lights, the cool bath of silvery light from the full moon above. This year the luminaries didn't last quite as long, so a few are lit, most are not. but it still is a wonderful feeling to know that like minded souls went out into the chill and made something pretty. It brings hope to my heart.

bright lights, little city. MnB's abode with decorations aglow!

Sometimes, though, it's best to take it easy in the wintery months. Just settle in, stay warm, and be content. You know, like the pups.

here's a pretty sunset until I write again. Hope the holidays are bringing a hint of hope-timism to your lives.

ciao,

Isn't it lovely when you look in your rear mirror, expecting to just see cars, and there is the most gorgous sunset ever! :-)
